El castillo de Blarney es una fortaleza medieval situada en la ribera del río Martin en la localidad de Blarney, cerca de Cork, en el mismo condado de Cork, al sur de Irlanda.
El castillo fue fundado a principios del siglo XIII, destruido en 1446, y posteriormente reconstruido por Dermot McCarthy, rey de Muster. Está parcialmente destruido quedando la torre del homenaje y algunas habitaciones.
En la parte superior de la torre se encuentra la conocida piedra de la elocuencia o piedra de Blarney. Los visitantes deben besar la piedra por la parte de abajo estando suspendido en el vacío, mientras uno de los trabajadores del lugar turístico te sujeta, y obtendrán el don de la elocuencia. Si realmente quieres subir a besar la piedra, o simplemente verla, es conveniente un calzado cómodo, y por supuesto, no deben darte miedo las alturas. Eso sí, deberás de hacer una buena cola para llegar a ella.
Rodeando el castillo se encuentran los jardines que contienen diferentes puntos interesantes como el "Rock Close", un lugar mágico donde podremos ver el "Druid's Circle", la "Witch's Cave" y las "Wishing Steps". En los alrededores se encuentra la Blarney House, una mansión reformada en 1874 en estilo señorial escocés residencia de la familia Colthurst desde el siglo XV.
Para visitar el castillo, con subida a la piedra incluida, y recorrer los jardines, se necesita toda una mañana. Los tickets se pueden comprar allí directamente, o comprarlos directamente en la web http://www.blarneycastle.ie/.

Ireland, the green island, also known by the amount of medieval castles that you can visit. In this case I will tell you a little about Blarney Castle.
Blarney Castle is a medieval fortress on the banks of Martin River in the town of Blarney, near Cork, in the same county of Cork, southern Ireland.
